My friend Sel explained the basics of film developing and enlarging to<br>
me. From what I gather the important bits for setup are to ensure the<br>
tub is connected to plumbing, to have three or so chemical bins for<br>
processing enlargements, to have spots to dry negatives and prints,<br>
and to have a dim red bulb for enlarging. Is this correct? Probably<br>
someone who has a clue should help arrange the equipment. (I can work<br>
on connecting plumbing, since that's an obvious constraint.)<br></blockquote><div><br></div><div>Those of us who've done printing and developing will definitely start arranging things once all the relevant features are working. Don't worry about that. We already have at least rough versions of everything you've cited. We do still need a few chemicals though, see prev posts. </div>
<div><br></div><div>The only thing that would be really nice to have is better setups for drying negatives and prints. We have a device for hang-drying film, but my expectation is that the first major hurdle (beyond the minimal features and supplies) for film dev will be dust issues. Painting will help this considerably (drywall= dust), but I won't personally be developing anything but test strips until we've got a stable dust-prevention strategy. Something to look forward to!</div>
<div><br></div><div>Once we get to phase 2 (BW prints) I was planning to make some sort of accordion-y contraption with large panes of screen material for drying prints. There is a machine for this but you can't use it for fiber paper anyway, so we'll need the analog option in any case.</div>
