Hey all,

I wanted to remind you that this Wednesday will be some hacking on the KDD dataset in company. I strongly suggest that you register, download, and decompress it on your machine in advance -- it's a pretty slow download, and very compressed, so it takes a while to do each of these things.

https://pslcdatashop.web.cmu.edu/KDDCup/downloads.jsp

The more ideas and previous attempts you bring with you on Wednesday, the better it will be. :)
Next week, we're having an open workshop on the KDD Dataset. Download a copy, and bring some ideas and tools to try on it! It should be a good opportunity to collaboratively figure out how to use some real tools to explore a real problem.

If you have any tools or ideas to suggest, add them to https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/KDD_Competition_2010 I'll put up some links and guidelines for R, and try to do the same for libSVM.
