[Noisebridge-discuss] Party anyone?

I really really really don't want to have a fundraiser party in a
space that does not have a "Place of Entertainment" permit. This is a
Big Deal to get and have and people can get arrested for not complying
with this, not to mention having stuff like sound systems confiscated.
They've increased the size of the force investigating these sorts of
events, and have a mandate to shut them down, so it's a bad
environment right now.

That's part of the reason I advocate for Cellspace. It's a little
expensive, but the place is huge and they take care of all the legal
stuff so we don't have to concern ourselves with the local
constabulary. I think we should only consider spaces that have a
Place of Entertainment permit, as we're one of those easily targeted
organizations and just don't need that kind of attention.

I'd like to have priority given to Noisebridge members who are DJs.
We have quite a lot of talent in this direction amongst our
membership.

BUT! More than anything else right now, we need a date for the party.
I was thinking of mid-October. Say the 14th or the 15th. We should
have our plate cleared from the move by that point but not be getting
into holiday party competition time. Any opinions?

Another thing we need to consider and discuss. I understand Seth was
mentioning last night that he'd like to see "all ages" events as often
as it's reasonable. The issue arises that the majority of the money
that's made at these sorts of things is at the bar. Ideally, we'd
have events that are as wide open as possible. I'll be looking into
what it would take to keep this open while still selling liquor.
