Hi Mike,

Thanks so much for this *hint*. I have kind of a dumb question, I do know there are 12 pins coming out of the G1. How many of those pins are required for serial interface at a minimum you think? Here is the parallax board I want to connect to:

http://www.trossenrobotics.com/parallax-serial-servo-controller.aspx?feed=Froogle

Does this board just take a single wire, I am confused.

-Tim

P.S.

I thought the absolute minimum was 2 wires to do serial communication. Its been too long since I did raw hardware stuff.
You didn't hear it from me, but there is someone at Dorkbot who works for G1 (or one of the parties involved) and would probably know this. You might ask there.

Come to think of it, this person in fact might be ioerror, since I don't know who that is.

Give me a hint ioerror - is your first name the same as mine?
Hi All,

I have started this fun project:

https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Autonomous_Flying_Platform#Team_Members
I need to find a way to control propellers etc... with the G1. The easiest way I know how to do this is to use the serial interface from the G1 to like a parallax board which then connects to servos etc... I am stuck in park so far as I am a mere mortal and the serial inteface/software on the G1 phone is "undocumented" but does exist. I was told that ioerror might know about it. I am performing the incantation to the G1 Gods/Gurus to rain down this undocumented knowledge that I might drink deeply from that cup of knowledge. I also invite advice/recommendations on what hardware to use for the propellers etc... in this project.
Thanks!
