Let's do it! I know Jonathan Moore has worked on this stuff in the past too. OLSRd was developed heavily @ c-base too. Good stuff!

-grey

On Mon, Sep 7, 2009 at 8:00 PM, erin <erin@j-fan.com> wrote:
I am very interested in this topic, esp from a graph theory/network design perspective. About a year ago I learned about mesh networks and wrote some algorithms for optimizing placement of access points. I put that work on the backburner, but I would like to get back into it. I am also interested in the hardware side of things, but that's not my expertise.
I am out of town til at least thurs/fri of next week, and I attend monday ruby/python classes, and sometimes machine learning on weds. Probably the only bad day for me is monday.
Hi,
That's the kind of thing that I'm talking about, although there are
quite a few different mesh networking protocols out there and they do
not interoperate. My own personal interest is in various open-source
mesh solutions that are in active development, e.g. the "ROBIN"
firmware which uses the OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) protocol.
I am by no means an expert on the XO platform, but I've heard that
OLPC mesh networking uses a different protocol and proprietary
firmware developed by one of its hardware vendors.
