Yeah! Hundreds of hackerspaces have started up in the last year. Noisebridge was at the front edge of the current wave (tsunami, actually). If you want to see how many hackerspaces there are, check out this map on Hackerspaces.org:<BR>

It's nice to have a place where people won't judge you so readily for playing with technology like this.<BR><BR>The major, major plus to all of you guys out there in custom hardware land is that the joint-purchasing power of an organization like a hackerspace is likely to provide either a really cool laser etcher/cutter, CNC mills, and/or 3d plastic printing repraps.
