<br>If you're a Noisebridge hacker and you are into high tech stuff and you haven't been inside Ames before, you should go. If it's like last time, it's held in a hangar at the edge of the airfield. You don't go into the NASA part of the facility. But do your homework. You park next to Hangar One, where they parked airships in the 30's. You drive in past the largest wind tunnel on the west coast.<br>
(yeah, they test jet fighters they. they also test mars lander parachutes. our mars probes work and the european''s don't because we have badass martian lander parachutes because they were tested at Ames...) And it's part of NASA, our badly designed Soviet-era space agency that might not be there in 5 years.<br>

Eh. They had burners (gate) doing security there, due to the... difficulties of regular security people interacting with the artists. It was like a special security zone or something.<div><br></div><div>When I did the thing with the FLG there, I had to haggle a lot to get enough crew tickets to run the piece, and we got the largest allowance of any group there. What strikes me as a good idea is to have /several/ noisebridge groups putting together proposals so each can get a small batch of tickets. but they're really whiny about awarding them - much more so than other events I've done.</div>

Actually, it's a NASA, and thus Federal, facility. The last Yuri's<br>
Night there the security was super-tight. Messing around with them<br>
might be fun, but getting caught risks a Federal offense. (For that<br>
reason, also a good idea to leave the fun stuff at home.)<br>
