Actually, I kind of doubt it.  Metal-cutting band saws are usually made specifically for, um, cutting metal.  I believe that they operate at higher speeds than wood-cutting saws and usually have a source of lubrication and cooling to prevent overheating.  Some have brushes that continually clean the blade of burrs.<br>
