<p>I think you may be approaching the problem erronously.</p>
<p>Think of a key system as a password style system. Even with the key system you still have to lock down registration. So what benefit does the key system really provide?</p>
<p>And it does alienate new comers. Someone can't get in... they may just say fuck it and never come back.</p>
<p>I say, think of these undesirables as spammers. What we need is a re-captcha still barrier of entry. Something joe hacker innately knows or can figure out quickly... but would leave one of these folks at a loss.</p>
