I can see it both ways. It is unfortunate that the gallery does not allow credit to be given. Otherwise, I have little opinion, just so long as I can load the images in their own tabs, I'm happy.

Or picasa, or any decentralized method of storing photos that allows people who take their own pictures to easily link them with a classification of "noisebridge" without forcing a bottleneck like a single upload location. Flickr came to mind because I do have a flickr and it's my main way of distributing any pictures i might want other people to see, and it made more sense to me because it enables people to "own" their photos in their own galleries but provide a central semantic "location" where all the images are viewable. I'd be more interested in seeing a solution that knits together a varied bunch of photo storing and viewing styles that anyone can add their gallery or photos to (regardless of service) without having to reupload, than a single-failure-point application that requires maintenance and debugging and logins and stores all these photos without differentiating photographer or owner. I'm totally down with a gallery that lets everyone share and view pictures of noisebridge but I don't find the gallery as it stands to be a particularly elegant solution.

Awesomesauce.

Also, re-flickr, I am anti trusting flickr to be the only repo for all images noisebridge.

On Mon, Feb 21, 2011 at 1:35 PM, Patrick Keys <citizenkeys@gmail.com> wrote:
Flickr groups and nobody really uses them on a regular basis:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/noisebridge
and
http://www.flickr.com/groups/nb-optics/

Bulk uploading to Flickr is kind of a hassle. This new setup allows
easy bulk uploading with FTP. Each folder is its own album. Just ftp
in, create a folder, upload the pictures, and that's it. Also, just
fyi, underscores in filenames will be displayed as spaces.

Implementing right-click to "Open in New Tab" is at the top of my list.
Also better permalinks for images. By default, the gallery script
obfuscates everything to prevent direct-linking to images.

The entire gallery is a single php file, requiring no separate database
or anything. If you want to view the readme, help yourself:
