and to answer your other questions.... the MAC address is not printed anywhere... so I figure out its IP address (if it even has gotten that far) in order to remotely connect to it .... sigh :-(<div><br></div></blockquote>
</div><div>Pull the hard drive, check for a configured address, put it back. While your at it make sure sshd is started and if you want access to an account for which you have no password then delete that password.<br><br>
It wouldn't hurt to see if the drive boots another computer. A dead drive can definitely make a computer look fried (spin up or not). Or anyway just do a barebones install on a fresh drive and try that and see if it works.<br>
