<p>With regards to all the practice and styles I've learned, the internal understanding is essential for the techniques to work effectively as opposed to sometimes harmful and excessive repetition of movements.</p>
<p>Also, with regards to weapons, of those I have trained with, it takes far more skill and training to use a weapon than to protect oneself by learning how to disarm a perpetrator.</p>
<p>Ultimately, one prevention is the best protection. The best self defense is the ability to avoid or neutralize confrontation.</p>
