Depending on the language you are working with source code you may find some support in an IDE to show class relationships. Emacs has also a text based (easy to cut and paste) representation for some Java at least, Eclipse has for Java too, and works for C++ now too I believe, maybe some others, Eclipse is become like Emacs 2G or something...<br>

I have played with ArgoUML in the past (it's free as in freedom software <a href="http://argouml.tigris.org/" target="_blank">http://argouml.tigris.org/</a>) and made quite complex models but mainly of use cases and state diagrams. I'm definitely no expert. I'll be at NB next wednesday for the Linux chat, unless something happens. Ping me offlist if you need help before that.<br>

As a programmer, I like having a 'picture' of the system that I'm working on.. It helps me file things in the right place.<div><br></div><div>I inherited a project that is a bit hairy. For my own use, I need to learn to make UMLs so I can interpret this project. If someone has a software package that they can tutor me on (on how to represent some of these hierarchal inheritance models) along with normal data ORM models, it'd be greatly appreciated.
