Given that there is no datasheet provided with the Makerbot RGB LED strips, you won't have any real answer for sure...BUT!<div><br></div><div>If these are anything like the sparkfun LED strips:<a href="http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10259">http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10259</a>, then you'll need 60mA per 3 LEDs. There are 60 LEDs on the strip, so you'll need 1200mA per strip. Times 5 strips? You'll need a grand total of 6000mA @ 12V to power all 5 at once. From the thingm website (<a href="http://thingm.com/products/blinkm-maxm.html">http://thingm.com/products/blinkm-maxm.html</a>), the MaxM is rated to: 5V-24V, 3A max. So...prolly not :(. You might get lucky if they measured the 3A at the 24V power input rating, so you could be able to get 6A at 12V without blowing it up...but I would say that's probably dubious. At the very least, you'll need to heatsink the hell out of it and run it in a cold room...its probably smarter to just get more than 1 controller.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Its tough to know if this math is correct though given that there isn't a datasheet on the Makerbot strips though :)</div><div><br></div><div>Sean</div><div><div><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Mon, Nov 7, 2011 at 12:51 PM, Elijah Post <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:elijahpost@gmail.com">elijahpost@gmail.com</a>></span> wrote:<br>

Does anyone know if I can use one BlinkM MaxM on five RGB LED strips, and how bright are those stripes?<br clear="all">
