Hi Jake,

Nice to hear from you!

I will keep updating my progress in http://www.dorabot.com/project-updates,
as long as I remember. Come check it out, and maybe join&contribute
if you want. Since it's all me for now, it's pretty slow progress. Hope
I can get more people join and speed up the project.

I've built pneumatic robotic arm before, which is really simple. Turn the arm into motor-driven is a good idea, and it's even better that you got the motors. Hope you talk to you in person soon :)

I'll be at noisebridge most of the time, for example tonight. When will you be at noisebridge, tomorrow at the meeting?

On Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 4:07 PM, Jake <jake@spaz.org> wrote:

I have the robotic arm on my shelf. Some people thought it was too unweildy, and the robot is dangerous enough without it.

It has pneumatic actuators on it, which is to say that originally it was operated with a pressurized air source and solenoids (which I don't have) to move it around. I feel that the appropriate way to use it now is to fit it with electrical motors (which I do have) and let the pneumatic cylinders remain as the movement support structure. Although I hardly care what is done with it if someone else takes the initiative.

If you are at noisebridge the same time as me, I will get the arm out for you, or i can do that ahead of time and put it somewhere you can get to it. I would like to hear about the arm you're making, and what you hope to do with it.

Your project sounds very interesting.
Hi Noisebridge,

I'm working on this DORA opensource robotic assistant project, and now
I'm starting building robotic arm.

I've heard that the wheel chair robot had a gigantic arm before, where
is it now? I'd like to play with it, if it still being around.

I'm a roboticist/hacker from Beijing, with 5 years' experience on
building and controlling robots. so, believe me, I won't hurt myself
or anybody else while moving the robotic arm around. :)
