I am in support of non intrusive security measures. Requiring a door code to open the gate electronically is acceptable. "Members only" and "close at night" get suggested every couple of months, and every time, gets blocked by multiple members. Anything that reduces the utility of the space to members will not likely pass consensus.

If the problem is preventing theft, we need to engrave our name and address on things that might be taken, and as Liz says paint them. There is almost always a group of people (different groups over time) at noisebridge who don't belong, and take advantage of our generosity. I am going to be more proactive in making these groups move on.

because as i recall, if you had a key, member or not, you could use
the space. there were plenty of people from out of town who came and
just hung out more or less indefinitely at that time.
