<div dir="ltr"><div>Thanks, Reverend Mik. <b><u>This is really unacceptable.</u></b></div><div><br></div><div>I think it would do us some good to establish set of <b><u>"Hacker ethics"</u></b> very much in line with what is at MIT:</div>
<div><u><a href="http://tech.mit.edu/V127/N66/graphics/thumb-lg-hackingethics.jpg">http://tech.mit.edu/V127/N66/graphics/thumb-lg-hackingethics.jpg</a></u><br></div><div><br></div><div>These <b><u>guidelines</u></b> could be posted in LARGE LETTERS as a mural as you enter the space so that it is made clear what is expected of individuals whom are given the <b><u>privilege</u></b> to enjoy Noisebridge and the community we as a whole have created.</div>
<div><br></div><div>The idea of a <b><u>non-binding</u></b> set of <b><u>protocols</u></b> would be to establish a normalization of behavior (a phrase I am sure will bother more than a few people).</div><div><br></div><div>
One of the key things I have learned thus far in life is that <b><u>you really cannot assume anything of anyone</u></b>, including "standards" of behavior; not because "people are bad," but because...</div>
<div><br></div><div style>• People come from all sorts of backgrounds and experiences, and the one experience that taught you not to pick your nose may not have happened to someone else.</div><div style>• We are a product of the environment with which we surround ourselves.</div>
<div style>• Everything each of us knows is a result of an external input being interpretted by an internal process, and we each have varying reactions to external inputs.</div><div style><br></div><div style>Those who are generally active in these discussions are likely not those who are treating the space poorly, and so these email threads are <b><u>preaching to the choir</u></b> + the few "trolls" who, to a limited extent, do us a service by engaging debate (and then usually things fall to pieces...).</div>
<div style><br></div><div style><u style="font-weight:bold">The challenge then is in determining what characteristics of Noisebridge are indeed are part of our proud character and which are merely correlational and/or detrimental and should be changed.</u></div>

Date: Tuesday, April 16, 2013, 10:33 AM<div class="im"><br><br><div><div dir="ltr">I arrived at Noisebridge about 15 minutes ago to get some work done. There was a large pile of feces next to the table saw and a drying puddle of urine next to the drill press. I have cleaned up the feces and am in the process of drying, sweeping, and cleaning up the urine.<div>
<div><br></div><div>This is the second time within the last week that there has been feces in the shop, and more than the second time that I have found urine in the space.</div></div></div>
