It's that Noisebridge is one of very few places where a person has some degree of autonomy, while still being supported by a community. I very much enjoy that and Noisebridge cannot be replaced by another hackerspace for that reason. People who want to share a workshop protected by rules and structure can go to techshop.</div>

<div class="gmail_extra"><br>I appreciate your contribution to the community. People like you doing excellent things are the one thing that will make or break this community. I know that you are making extremely positive changes to the space. I advocate for "fixing noisebridge" by doing exactly that. Imagine the noisebridge you want to have and just fucking make it happen. If we don't stick together, no amount of rules or structure are going to make this community worthwhile. I don't personally believe that more rules and structure will have any long term effects because <i>every person at noisebridge is already empowered to decide what behavior is acceptable or not acceptable</i>, and to bring that action to a discussion with the community. Imposing rules on a community that was built with very few of them seems almost cruel at this point.<br>
<br></div><div class="gmail_extra">All that I ask is that people go through the consensus process with ideas if others have serious concerns with them. Many noisebridgers have concerns with any new rules or structure. This necessitates addressing those concerns before the plan can proceed. This latest push for rules and structure seems to be disregarding those very concerns and blaming those with concerns for the problems created by other people.<br>
<br></div><div class="gmail_extra">I apologize for the earlier post, I had a moment where I was filled with rage at the idea of cleaning the elevator by myself with no replies to the post, while drama threads collect numerous replies and other people save noisebridge by imposing rules on the community. The post was unnecessarily obnoxious, hell maybe this one is too.<br>

dirty work. I've cleaned NB toilets, mopped NB floors, washed other<br>
people's dirty dishes, and spent many hours organizing IC chips in the<br>
electronics area. Soon after, the bathrooms, kitchen, and electronics<br>
area returned to their usual filthy, hit-by-a-tornado condition. Soon<br>
after, i got fed up with other people's lack of consideration, and<br>
stopped trying. Relying on the random efforts of do-gooders will only<br>
result in abuse by do-badders. Also, I think it's pretty disrespectful<br>
of you to order other people to pick up a broom. Are you the NB boss?<br>

JR: Apparently, Dan, you don't want anyone to try and fix NB either.<br>

Of course, there's no such thing as "fixing" something, if there's no<br>
stated ideal that we're working toward. Without a written<br>
community-agreed description of what NB is trying to be, there's<br>
nothing to work toward. IMO, NB needs a Mission Statement.<br>
