<div><br></div>Koji Hoshino, the head of studio Ghibli, and former head of Disney Japan, made the announcement at the Venice Film Festival. Miazaki is 72, and to the best of my knowledge has never 'announced' that he is leaving the film industry before. He will be making a formal announcement of his retirement in Japan.<div>
