<i></i>Dear BP, <br>
<br>
<br>
Tony Longshanks LeTigre here, editor and creator of <b><i>ZiP: Zine
in Progress</i></b>, a new MegaZine for hackers, tech nerds,
squatters, occupiers, beautiful freaks and benevolent mutations of
every variety. ZiP hails from San Francisco and is inspired by and
focused on <a href="https://noisebridge.net" target="_blank">Noisebridge</a>
hackerspace in the Mission District, but we expect it to have a
global audience courtesy of the burgeoning network of hacker and
computer security communities and conferences worldwide. Though it
is more or less a hacker zine, its content is not exclusively
programming or code, but in fact a variety bag encompassing a broad
definition of "hacking," as you will see from the content list below
(see end of message).<br>
<br>
ZiP01, the first installment of ZiP MegaZine, launched on
Valentine's Day (Feb. 14), 2012 with a party at Noisebridge. A small
initial print run of 100 copies was distributed at the space. At the
same time ZiP01 went live in full-text, full color on <a href="http://zine.noisebridge.net" target="_blank"><b>ZZW</b></a>, the ZiP Zine
Website. It is available to read or download in its entirety, free
of charge. The downloadable PDF is print-ready (not in reading
order). Readers can also order print copies from us - <b><a href="mailto:zipzine@riseup.net" target="_blank">zipzine@riseup.net</a></b>
- at a cost of $7.00 per copy plus shipping. This price is hardly
more than the cost of printing. ZiP01 is 58 pages plus front and
back covers; the covers along with 6 additional pages are printed in
full color, the rest in black & white. Format is folio print on
letter size paper, meaning the size of a ZiP page is 8.5" high by
5.5" wide. (That may change with ZiP02, due out April 1st.) <br>
<br>
Please note that the pagination of ZiP is in Hexadecimal, rather
than the usual decimal format.<br>
<br>
We would love for <i>Broken Pencil</i> to review ZiP. <a href="http://zine.noisebridge.net/2012/02/zip01-is-online-now/" target="_blank">This</a>
post lists the options for online viewing and downloading, with
links to each. I recommend viewing the high-res JPEGs!<br>
<br>
Zinetically yours,<br>
