the current planking isn't residential smooth/uniform, i think you might
want to shoot for 'cleaning' rather than taking off a thin layer. using
a buffer 'wheel' w/ some amount of warm/soapy water would wrk ok for
this.

anyway, should i/we try to grab a sander/thingee before hand?
