Correct, there would be additional scraping between those steps normally, but we did that already. Perhaps overdid that, even.
We (miloh, mona and myself) finished through step 3 much faster than I thought and miloh and I are considering doing the extra 5' or so to the south wall now.

Lamont,
You rock.
In the "real" process, we'd be scraping out the cracks between steps 2 and 3, yeah?

Ok, I've just gotten back from a few hours getting supplies and
sanders. Here is my plan as explained to me by robin at pacific floor
supply as well as some tips from the hertz equip rentals place:
1) belt sand floor with 40 grit belts. Go with the wood grain/planking,
be moving before I engage the belt, one pass might do it, maybe two.
2) vacuum the floor again
3) apply the full trowel filler, of which I have 3.5 gallons in
something that should go with a "white oak". Should this not match, I
can return it for the red oak. I have two trowels, and the plan is to
slop it in the floor then smooth it with the trowel. This will need to
set overnight, possibly as long as 24 hours.
4) once dry, re-sand with a 80-120 grit, and vacuum again.
5) Apply one coat of "bonaseal" sealer. The one gallon I have of this
should be enough for our test patch and then some. I have a synthetic
wool applicator that I will need to store wet in order to be able to use
again. This will take 2-3 hours to dry
6) Next is the mega finish water based satin finish coat. I'll need to
apply this, let it dry 2-3 hours then lightly abraid the surface (like
with a scrubber on the back of a sponge) before applying the final coat.
I believe I can get up to step 5 by tomorrow evening. I'm going to
start this process in about 20 minutes, once I bike back to 2169.
