[Build] Emergency exit

I feel strongly that it will be best for us to work directly with our
neighbors on any issues we have with them, for these reasons:

1. we have to live next to them for quite a while, we shouldn't call for
help until all other avenues are exhausted
2. we're going to do something eventually to make the landlord unhappy
with us, let's put it off as long as possible and rack up all the
brownie points we can (by not bugging them to deal with shit we can deal
with)

This particular issue, I doubt the need for that space to be clear has
actually sunk in yet.  We probably just need to take the owner up & show
him our space, talk about fire for a bit, and take him down the back
stairs.  Anyone who finds him not in SUPER BUSY mode should consider
trying to make friends.
