The shrine is to Guan Di / Guan Yu, who was a Chinese general and general
historical figure and became Deified over the course of centuries. He is
revered in Buddhist, Confucian, Taoist and traditional Chinese religions as
a figure betokening brotherhood, honesty, and fair dealing; he is widely
revered by businesss people. He is also seen as a war deity, but
specifically associated with acts of honor and uprightness.
