[CQ] [hackerdojo] Would anybody like 100 jail radios?

i thought the offer was offered to everyone,
so if someone got them "before" the shelf,
does that matter?

and if you need donated junk for writeoffs,
boy can i hook you kids up with e-waste!!!

i'd like a pair to try and hack an SDR interface into them,
so they can be used with a computer for signal processing,
mostly ham radio stuff, so would re-tune them for the closest ham band.
google up "flarq" and "flmsg" and "fldigi" to get an idea, "winrad"
neato too.

i'd see the trade in "keeping" them to be "giving"
the circuit/schematic/firmwarehacks to make them usefull back
to whoever wants to use the others.

they are probably "business band" radios,
which means they are not legal to use without a corresponding
license for that frequency.
they are also probably a few watts, so you could easily interfere
with some other business license holder for that freq if you used
them in the bay area. (which could be fun depending on your bent)
boxloads of used single freq bizbanders can be had on ebay for
shipping costs,
but i wouldnt bother with the conversion unless they where free,
and more than one in case conversion bricks 'em.
(or collins or kenwood :-)
