Far beyond my capabilities, but beautiful to look at:

Having just fixed my 7L14 spectrum analyzer and so being somewhat in awe
of the exotic electronics, plumbing and generally highly strung
electronics it involves, I was astounded to see that a fellow from
Slovakia built a spectrum analyzer with comparable capabilities.
There's no digital memory, and it doesn't have the 7L14's range of
bandpass filters, but it is a full three-stage spectrum analyzer, with
home-built mixers, microwave filters, log amplifiers etc.

The VCOs are described elsewhere - not on the Net. He doesn't use YIG
oscillators, so I guess the stability would not be as good as a spectrum
analyzer which did.
