We're running a 3D AR hacking workshop this Friday at Stanford 
University to make the invisible visible, e.g. you can see sound waves, 
radio waves, and you can even see sight itself and visualize the 
otherwise hidden world of veillance (sweep for surveillance cameras and 
make their sightfields visible):
