i have a V700, wich is a ~470$ (new) flatbed scanner that can scan 24
135 or 8 645 negatives at a time. it has the IR channel ICE stuff, and
is pretty spiffy. you can probably pick one up used cheaper. there are
even sturdy laser cut metal aftermarket holders. If you're scanning
for web or med size print, it will work quite well and can resolve
resolutions higher than you ISO100 film can produce. the main thing
I've found that governs scan quality with this machine is keeping the
dust off the scanner surface. be prepared to use canned air a lot when
scanning negatives.
