Hello all,

Just sending out some clarifying info about the workshop Eliane mentioned.

Sunday August 26th we will be starting a workshop, teaching direct
animation techniques for 16mm and Super 8 film, this will be an
introduction to 16mm film techniques. We will not need to use the
darkroom on this day. But rather may make use of it at further
meetings if interest in hand processing Motion Picture film arises. I
have done a lot of motion picture film processing including color
reversal and negative and black and white neg and reversal processing.
So if anyone wants to learn about this process please let me know! I
love spreading the word! Lots of fun! I am also super into pinhole
for motion picture and making handmade emulsions.
Me, Eliane and Tod are members of an east bay media-resource
collective and we have lots of random 16mm movies and equipment. So
please join us in a couple of weeks and learn about DIY 16mm movie
making.

Below you will find a concise description of our upcoming series:

"Elements of Image Making is a series of workshops investigating
analugue film processes structured around the open exchange of ideas,
resources, and skills while focusing on teaching through facilitation.

Topics covered range from manipulations of found footage to new image
generation using chemical, optical, and mechanical techniques. Our
primary concern being the surface of film, we will treat it as a
canvas. We will create and watch 16mm and super 8 films.

Initially concerned with tactile manipulations, we will make direct
animations by drawing, scratching, and painting directly onto film. By
focusing on texture, pattern, and rhythm we will explore projected
light, experience and perception. Future workshops will move into the
darkroom exploring: photograms, hand processing, handmade emulsions
and tinting/toning.

Additionally we will invoke whatever mischief we can think of; we
might bury film, throw it into a volcano, launch it into the
atmosphere, bake it, burn it or sail it to angel island.

Starting Sunday August 26th, 2PM and will continue every 2nd and 4th sunday."

Thanks guys, let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see some
of you guys around the darkroom. I am beginning a project concerning
photograms of snake skin on color negative 16mm film, hope to begin
some serious work on it in the darkroom soon.
