[Fab] Laser cutter working?

I stopped by noisebridge a couple days ago and tried to laser cut a small
thing.
The laser was taking power according to the milliwattmeter, however no heat
was being produced.


This is a failure mode I have never seen before - usually when the tube
does not fire, the power gauge does not show any currant.


Any idea what is up with it?
