"It felt like random, vague anarchy," is absolutely correct, but as for
the planter, no, the guy was tearing up a plant. he never touched the
planter, so there wasn't much of the threat there. they didn't throw food,
they were thrown into food, and probably some people were carrying some
when body tackled.

as for the jewelry shop, i didn't see that part, but it seems possible
that 'throwing' may have been dramatically dropping in this case, because
there was a lot of tackling and grabbing and smashing going on between
protestors and police. the police really weren't happy about the mall
thing. but what makes me not lean towards the sign throwing explanation
was that everyone outside had been very into hanging onto their signs, to
the point of making sure they didn't get snagged on anything, carefully
rolling them at the end, and so on. that said, i am not sure that the
protestors were thinking with perfect clarity at that point.

"People were grabbing their babies and running away in fear,"- it seems
not impossible, but i didn't see it. what i did see was mall security
*telling* people to do that, and mainly people with kids grumbling about
the mall closing not listening to him.

what really pissed people off was that they closed the mall.
