Heh.  echoing around the net...

This is for Gate.  It's to keep the barcode scanner computers alive.
I am familiar with this, I set up the boxes ;-)

The boxes are running linux booted off a flash drive and are networked.
There's application code running on the boxes.

Physical maintenance of the devices is part of it ("all computers at 
gate get blow jobs on demand" i.e. you're issued a bottle of canned air 
and expected to make sure the dust level in the keyboards isn't too deep.)
