[Noisebridge-discuss] Design for 2169

As far as I know, the build at 2169 doesn't have any kind of design
coordinator or list of opinions on what the new space should look like
(tell me if I'm wrong.) I have to decide what the human interface
panels for the SCADA bits will look like, which means I have to make
them fit in with the common area design motif if I don't want it to
look like ass, which means that it's time for another survey. Note
that this is for the common areas only like the elevator landing,
stairwell landings, and the couch spaces. I'm not asking for opinions
about the other spaces, because as I understand it someone else is
thinking about that.

What Should The Common Areas Of 2169 Look Like?

Overall Goals:

[ ] I want a visually uncluttered workplace free of distractions.

[ ] Art inspires creativity in me, and I think we should have lots of it.

[ ] Science fiction inspires me, and I want it to look like a Galaxy
class starship. (except with wood floors, because I guess Starfleet
didn't get a bailout.)

[ ] I want something like a steampunk motif, which will help me get
into a Maker mood.

[ ] I want it to look like 83c because I'm just here to hang out, that
worked fine, and this other stuff is all freaky and weird.

[ ] I don't want it to get dirty and ghetto, because then that creates
a positive feedback loop where I start acting like a slob. Whatever
is easy to clean works for me.

[ ] I really want it to get all dirty and ghetto, because we're here
to make things and besides, look at all the cool shit that the other
art spaces crank out! Also, I don't want Noisebridge to look like an
office because that sucks.

[ ] You totally don't get me. Here's what I want:

(Put what you want here.)

Specific Things, Assuming No Financial Impact:

[ ] I would like visual feedback (glowing LEDs or whatever) on the
infrastructure bits like outlets and the breaker panels.

[ ] I would prefer plain switches for things like lights, doors, and intercoms.

[ ] I would prefer fixed-function LED backlit capacitive touch panels
for things like lights, doors, and intercoms.

[ ] I would prefer small color touch screens for things like lights,
doors, and intercoms.

[ ] Your control panel idea is dumb. Bad Jesus, no cookie.

[ ] Modular wall panels for easily customizing the space without
having to screw with drywall would be nice. (Modular wall panels are
like hanging drywall the normal way, except the drywall gets sliced up
into 4x4 pieces, you wrap tape around the edges before painting it,
and you attach the panels using magnetic latches instead of screwing
it to the studs.)

[ ] Hanging cable trays for easily customizing the space without
having to screw with drywall would be nice.
