(I'll take this opportunity to make general suggestions, not necessarily
aimed at you, Paul.  But thanks for asking!)

Show up to 83c for planning meetings.  Be prepared to listen and to
contribute judiciously (be careful not to dominate the discussion, but
if you think you have a point that's not being considered and would be
worthwhile, speak up even if it's your first day!).  If a task arises
from that that you're capable of doing, volunteer to do it -- and then
follow through on it.

For example, I bet that most of the planning meetings could use a good
note-taker who's willing to write down what's discussed and post it to
the mailing list / wiki.

Show up to work parties and be prepared to help out.  Bring work gloves
and a good attitude.

Consider if there's an area you can contribute planning / coordination
to.  For example, if you're a stickler for good organization perhaps you
could coordinate moving the library or the electronics lab.  We'll
probably have enough willing hands, but it's been my experience that
coordinators are in short supply.
