here is my fantasy solution:

1) set up a gigapan style camera in the center of nb
2) set the step size appropriately for the highest resoultion images
3) wait 3 hours (or 3 days
4) everyone tag something in the picture, including such useful 
information as "metal film resistors seen in this bucket"
5) repeat step 4 until everything is tagged

the part i haven't figured out how to solve is of course the update
