[Noisebridge-discuss] 501c3 status and matching donations

Hi everyone,

As mentioned at the meeting last night and on Twitter, Noisebridge has
received a letter from the IRS informing us that we qualify for 501c3
public charity status, starting retroactively in October 2008. This
means that donations to Noisebridge are now tax deductible, less the
value of any consideration you receive for the donation.

This also means that some companies will match your donation to
Noisebridge! If you are at a company that does matching donations,
please take a minute to check out your company's policy. I am happy to
help with any paperwork your company needs, just send me a link to the
policy or the e-mail of the person to contact. Thanks to everyone last
night who indicated they may be able to pull off matching donations,
as well.

I'm also pleased to say that we have already received our first
request from a company to match a donation. Many thanks to Google and
EasyMatch.com!
