[Noisebridge-discuss] Shop Class tonight, Friday June 12th @ 8pm

A reminder about the Shop class this evening, Friday the 12th from 8-9pm
at 83C Wiese St, near 16th & Mission in SF [1].

Tonight we will:

- go over a couple designs for the booklet press and get an idea of
  who'd like to go forward with that project so we can put in an order
  to McMaster for materials & hardware. The plan is to have materials
  in house by next Friday so we can actually start cutting material.

- take a tour through the on-line McMaster Carr catalog, illustrating
  how it can be used as a design tool for selecting materials and
  hardware for your projects.

- start drawing the design(s) on paper with pencil

The goal of the class ongoing is to cover the basics of how to:

* use fabrication tools: hacksaw, vise, drill press, bench grinder
* use some layout tools: machinist's square, scriber, centerpunch
* understand and follow safe shop practices
* read a blueprint
* create dimensioned drawings that fully define a mechanical part
* create things you're excited about using in your day-to-day life
