Hi,
That's the kind of thing that I'm talking about, although there are
quite a few different mesh networking protocols out there and they do
not interoperate.  My own personal interest is in various open-source
mesh solutions that are in active development, e.g. the "ROBIN"
firmware which uses the OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) protocol.
I am by no means an expert on the XO platform, but I've heard that
OLPC mesh networking uses a different protocol and proprietary
firmware developed by one of its hardware vendors.
