I recommend abort if rains start, are likely, or have happened
recently - and good waterproof boots no matter what.

I've gotten rained out once; it wasn't bad but wasn't fun either. And
rain can effectively block part of the tunnels unless you're willing
to wade through a few inches of somewhat scummy water.

OTOH, there's a certain amount of fun to that. But I actually really
like the climate there when it's dry; it's like a sensory deprivation
situation. Very... neutral.

I used to go down there quite often when I lived in the area, for that reason.

Oh btw: please consider me interested in any such tours in the Bay
Area. I only know my own.
