I think this is what I'm trying to do:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Transclusion  Basically, use a
template tag to include the upcoming events in whatever page we want.

For example there is a little template that lists Linux distributions
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Linux_distributions and you can
include it on any page with {{Linux distributions}}

I will play around with this when I can...
