Kelly, our treasurer, is trapped in a snowbank in London.  In the
meantime, I have some not-completely-accurate updates on our finances.

Current balances, based on statements by Rachel and Miloh:

$10,000    Paypal account balance (as of 2010-12-21-21:00 PST)
  $5400    Wells Fargo account (as of 2010-12-20-17:00 PST)

We'll be paying January rent soon, so those numbers are at the high end
of monthly variation, and represent some serious fundraising:

In the last 3 days, we've recevied via Paypal $2500 in donations and new
affiliate memberships.  (We also received several hundred in regular
member dues, but I'm not counting that.)  Those donations are included
in the above $10k.  New memberships are great, because they represent an
ongoing commitment!


It's become clear in the last few days that we can and should publish
more information about our finances.  Mark Burdett has configured a
"Paypal IPN" webservice which we'll be using to publish information from
Paypal at http://cha-ching.noisebridge.net; it would be great if someone
could find out how to do something similar from Wells Fargo.


We're still in the process of contacting all of our existing members to
ensure they are up to date with dues, or have properly declared either
"hiatus member" or "former member" status if they're no longer paying
dues.  Huge kudos to Kelly for driving that process.  As of Dec 4, we
have 142 member records.  Less than half but more than a quarter of
those are still active members.  (I'm vague because only 28 records are
marked as "paid up", but I have cancelled checks to prove that I should
be listed as paid up and I'm not; I see at least 3 other records that I
believe should be marked paid.)
