this may be insane or an idea for a hack:

the above link presents information on insulation for fish
holds in fishing vessels.
in summary:
* best insulation is vacuum
* very good insulators include polyurethane and polystyrene
* avoid insulators that hold water (cork, fiberglass...)
* good linings include stainless steel and aluminum alloy
the idea, of course, is to make a chest refrigerator.
the primary benefit is controlling form factor, both inside
and outside.
