Why should the noise be a problem? A good way to deal with sleeping people.

Subject: [Noisebridge-discuss] Vending machines (dont get one)

Vending machines sound cool until you own one.
I have personally owned one.
You don't realize how much electricity they use until its your
responsibility.
They are basically a big inneficient refrigerator.

But the electricity isn't the problem.
The problem is the major humming noise they make.
The humming noise goes on 24/7.
You don't notice the noise at public vending machines because you're not
standing near it very long.
Also, most vending machines are near high-traffic areas where they will
be used and other noise drowns out the vending machine noise.

So don't get one.
Both because of electricity use and noise pollution.

Also, an obvious question...
noisebridge can't pay for its own drinks...
we argue over people stealing petty cash (drink money)...
we apparently can barely pay the rent..
yet somehow we have hundreds of dollars to donate for a drink machine?

It just sounds like we have our priorities wrong.

That said, Michael Kahn was probably right last night when he suggested
we get a soda fountain and mix our syrup and carbonated water on-the-fly.
Fountain drink machines support multiple beverages, silent,
cost-effective, and usually have an ice maker.
