Thanks for the page. Just want to mention that the tea room is gone. There
are now stairs, which aren't any better for weelchair users but at least
better for people who don't want to climb.

I've been around Noisebridge over the past couple of years but kind of
infrequently. I did help with the move, and talked a bunch with people
about wheelchair accessibility during the move and build-out. It was
nice to have that input.

The elevator is a relief, despite its suckitude. Without it, I would be
very unlikely to come to NB. People have put some thought into keeping
paths clear in front of the elevator.

The bigger bathroom is really nice. It means I am closer to being able
to invite my powerchair-using friends to NB without being embarrassed.
Both bathrooms still need handrails, which I've meant to do. Maybe over
the course of this week.

Anyone know if there is a handrail already at NB waiting to be
installed? I'll look around for one.

The front door buzzer's unreachability, and the way the elevator "works"
mean that wheelchair users will mostly need a person or two to help get
in and out of Noisebridge. Buzzer: unreachable. Metal gates: difficult
to impossible to deal with from wheels. Elevator doors: Totally
impossible. Elevator not lining up with the floor: Very hard to
impossible for some power chair users.

Helpful people coming in and out of NB to work the elevator:
Noisebridge's greatest accessibility feature!

Once I'm in the space, wheelchair access is decent.

If we're around at the same time and you're curious, you can borrow my
awesome ultralight Quickie Ti and take it for a spin.

I made a wiki page to note all of this, just now:
