I'm with Ian,

I'm not saying that Google's 1gbps connection should be the only internet
connection to the space.  As long as there's a backup, Google is in no power
to deny anything.

But if they're offering, it'd make one hell of a 'fair-weather' connection
though, and well as might nucleate some fun side projects (Helping feed the
local p2p wifi networks?)

Just a thought.
