maybe a string of diodes (each diode should be
rated for greater than the greatest expected current
(e.g. 7 Amps or greater). at 0.7 V each, probably
need 16 or so to drop the voltage from 24 to 12.
or one resistor, maybe 2.5 ohms and greater than
50 watts.
either of the above in series with the "pelt".
note you should verify the current and voltage
tolerance of the "pelt": maybe a slightly higher
voltage will be okay--how high. given the passive
description, higher voltage means greater current,
which certainly means greater heat and may have
some other affect--should check. also, will the
thing work with slightly lower-than-rated
voltage and current?
