Or maybe build one from sheet plastic like SWARM and then cover it with
something. The CAD files for a SWARM orb are in the SVN repository
somewhere. SWARM is open source, Creative Commons Attribution.

A friend needs a sphere for an art project. Where would you get 
something like this:


Plastic sphere 20" to 40" in diameter.

One opening up to 8" in diameter OK but not more that one.

Color and opaqueness does not matter.
