here's an update on library stuff:
* there's a new, main book shelf on the wall by the ]
darkroom. it needs a little more screwing in, but it
seems good enough to hold books.
* there's an electronics book shelf near the
electronics work space
* there is supposed to be a hack-these book shelf in
the big-pile-of-hackable-crap area
* there are supposed to be a couple more book shelves
in the space for fun type books or whatever.
* there are books in the main book shelf. these are
books that somebody wants to have in the space.
* there are books in the old metal book shelves. the
assumption is that someone wants these to be in the
space.
* there are books in boxes near the old metal book
shelves: MANY OF THESE HAVE NOT YET BEEN DONATED TO
NOISEBRIDGE. and some of them have been donated.
the library book game is
* to move all the books in the old metal shelves over
to the new main shelf. once that's done we'll have
more shelves for members.
* move all the boxes of books over near the new main
book shelves
* dig through the books in the boxes.
any that you would like to see kept in the space,
move them to a box labeled "wanted" or some such;
they'll be put in the new main book shelf.
any that you think are horrible crap, move them
to a box so labeled; they'll be candidates for the
big-pile-of-hackable-crap.
dig through books in the "horrible crap" box and
move any that you'd like to see kept in the space to
the "wanted' box (no, don't dig into the "wanted" box
to see what you think is horrible crap).
from time to time, one of the three NB librarians
will move books from the wanted box to the new main
book shelves (this is so's to inventory and accept
the books that have not yet been donated--there's a
501(c)3 receipt involved, so we've got to keep track).
a librarian will also either move the horrible crap
books to the big-pile-of-hackable-crap or return them
to the would-be donor.
if you don't do it, someone else will. if you like
the idea of books and a NB library, have at.
