That sounds super snazzy! If I recall correctly, 3G data was hella slow at
Maker Faire last year. They didn't build the network to handle crowds.  A
wifi based webcam on an Android would probably be a great fallback. Does
such an app exist? Maybe Qik can be convinced to use wifi.

We could affix a G1 to a tethered balloon and have it relay images
wirelessly back to our ground station a-la webcam (something like this:
http://phandroid.com/2009/06/23/qik-webcam-on-your-phone/). Shouldn't be too
difficult but would provide a cool view of the event.
