This question comes up regularly on every bay area geek-centric mailing
list.

Short answer: no (sadly).

While there is Fry's, Al Lasher (Berkeley), and Radio Shack, they typically
have a very limited range of components.

Best local bet is Jameco, assuming if they carry it. It's not retail per
se, but you can order on-line and pick it up will-call to avoid shipping
charges (usually ready in a few hours).
I personally find the delivery worth it to avoid the drive to Redwood City.

If you don't know about findchips.com and octopart.com, they are good for
comparing supplier pricing and availability.

Surplus places are cheap and cool, but typically won't have a particular
part: Mightyohm has a list
